Adapting and translating the Mullen Scales of Early Learning for the South African context

Finding reliable and valid ways to assess and profile developmental skills in children is an essential step in ultimately developing and providing effective and meaningful interventions. Measuring the effectiveness of intervention, comparing different intervention approaches and/or intensities and being able to predict the effect of additional risk and opportunity factors on children’s development all require reliable and valid assessment tools and methods (Kammerer, Isquith & Lundy, 2003).
